Flagstaff is a hotspot of activity during the summer months. If you are visiting the area make sure to check out the website http://www.flagstaffarizona.org/events_calendar.html
June: I will be one of approximately 15 Juried artists at the High Altitutde Conference center. Join me for the June First Friday Artwalk. Mention the blog and I will gift you a small glass item.
July: come check out Art in the Park July 2, 3, and 4. I will be sharing a booth space with Elvira López Del Prado Rivas (check out her stuff: http://www.lopezdelprado.com/ and http://www.flickr.com/photos/elviralopezdelprado/ ) Like - WOW!
My stuff will be similar to the glass items you see on my website with the addition of some recycled art: SKateboard jewelry, beltbuckles, purses. FUN!
My work stems from the desire to represent the familiar medium of glass in non-familiar formats; to stimulate in the viewer a notion of conceptual fun and to capture fleeting moments of discovery. Carefully manipulated visual elements transform glass and mixed media into representational forms. Art becomes a moment in time and a unique sharing of thought or idea for the viewer.

The Big Reveal
The final entry in regards to my friend and her total makeover: Kara Lee had a great makeover experience with the Oprah team. The show airs in Arizona on May 12 at 3:00. It's nice to see a friend get the attention she deserves. As I said earlier, her original hair inspired a jewelry line called "Curly Girlz". She wore a piece during her makeover and also gave the item labeled in an earlier blog to Ms. Winfrey. If you are interested in owning your own "curly girlz" they are available at Arizona Handmade; Fire on the Mountain.

Oprah Winfrey and Kara's Hair
This blog entry can only be classified as a point of personal privelage. I have a great, grand friend Kara who has hair that all her life could be called "unruly". So my friend Kara, long story short, will be on the Oprah show for a big makeover. She flies out May 3 for 4 days in Chicago with makeover and taping scheduled.
The side story to this very fun adventure my friend gets to participate in is this: as an artist you can't help but be inspired by Kara's hair. I designed a pendant line called "Curly Girlz" to remember Kara's hair. It's crazy. It's curly. It's a great head of hair worhty of fine art.
